CodingInABox makes the RA01, a 4-axis desktop robotic arm students build themselves and then program in the browser, and the 13-week course that comes with it.

Our story

It started with a simple idea

In February 2026, a team of engineers and educators kept running into the same problem: while the world accelerated toward automation, real hands-on robotics stayed locked behind cost and complexity.

Instead of a shelf of gadgets, we built one product and built it properly: a black laser-cut acrylic robotic arm with real servos, real firmware, and a browser studio that runs on the Chromebooks schools already own. The kit ships with a full course, because hardware without teaching is just a box of parts.

Today we bridge the gap between theory and code, one classroom at a time.

Where we are

The road so far

  1. February 2026

    Founded

    Started in a workshop in Kitchener, Ontario. The first RA01 prototype, laser-cut plates with four servos and one board, comes together on the bench.

  2. October 2026

    First pilots

    Five pilot schools come on board and the first 100 students build and program the arm in their own classrooms.

  3. 2027

    Wider rollout

    Class sets and the full 13-week curriculum reach more schools and more regions. Same arm, same course, more desks.
